Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Austin, Texas is seeking a Propulsion Engineer for the Spacecraft Engine Team. You will contribute to the design, analysis, testing, and operation of hypergol propulsion systems for the Blue Ghost program, collaborating with structures, fluids, and avionics to deliver reliable spaceflight hardware.

You will own development and qualification testing, drive manufacturability improvements, mentor teammates, and support flight operations.

Qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, and mechanics.
  • Experience with CAD like Siemens NX or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with tolerancing, ASME/ASTM, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Responsible Engineer for propulsion hardware in-space.
  • Develop new design concepts for propulsion integration.
  • Assist development of manufacturing, integration, test processes.
  • Act as primary contact for spacecraft fluid systems design and operations.
  • Perform flight operations as primary operator for fluids and propulsion.
  • Own and execute development, qualification, acceptance testing of flight hardware.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability changes to improve production efficiency.
  • Identify system risks and conduct trade studies.
  • Advance automation and data analysis tools.
