Impulse Space in Redondo Beach seeks a Propulsion Dynamics Engineer to characterize, analyze, and validate the dynamic behavior of liquid rocket propulsion systems. You will work with propulsion, dynamics, test, and instrumentation teams to evaluate engine test data and improve predictive models.

The role requires a strong background in structural dynamics, FE analysis, and data processing, plus a BS with 4+ years of experience; MS/PhD and startup experience are a plus.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 4+ years in structural dynamics, vibration, or dynamic testing.
• Experience with a standard FEA package.
• Experience with time and frequency domain analysis of dynamic data.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze dynamic data from engine development, qualification, and flight testing to characterize structural response and monitor hardware health.
• Develop propulsion component vibration environments from engine/flight data for use in structural analysis and qualification testing.
• Develop and apply engine-level FEM models and forcing functions to predict dynamic response and interface loads.
• Analyze and direct dynamic testing of propulsion hardware from pre-test analysis to post-test data reduction and model correlation.
• Develop tools for processing dynamic test data (time/frequency domain, filtering, spectral analysis, PSD).
• Support propulsion system stability and POGO analysis through modeling and correlation with test/flight data.
• Collaborate with instrumentation and test engineers on sensor selection and data conditioning.
