Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) seeks an experienced Propulsion Design Engineer to design, develop, and test propulsion systems for NASA human launch vehicles. You will work in a multi‑discipline team to integrate propulsion hardware with vehicle systems and ensure flight readiness through design maturity and risk mitigation.

The role requires strong CAD skills, system-level thinking, and effective cross‑team communication.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Eng or related field from ABET-accredited program (MS preferred).
• Typically requires 8+ years with MS or 10+ years with BS.
• U.S. Citizen with STAR ID is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to develop propulsion devices and supporting hardware.
• Apply system-level thinking to ensure designs integrate with subsystems and mission constraints.
• Use CREO for robust, manufacturable designs including piping/additive manufacturing modules.
• Collaborate across MSFC, NASA centers, and partners for design maturity and readiness.
• Support development of propulsion flight hardware and ground test equipment, flagging risks early.
• Communicate design intent clearly to diverse teams for smooth integration.
