Job summary

Amentum seeks an Early Career Spaceflight Hardware Propulsion Engineer to help design, analyze, and test propulsion and spacecraft pressure systems for NASA pursuits. You will develop models in Python/MATLAB, review CAD drawings, and assist with system integration and test planning.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in engineering and are eager to work across multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Ability to interpret drawings, requirements, and test procedures.
• Familiarity with engineering analysis, programming, or data-processing tools.

Responsibilities

• Apply fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, materials, structures, and machine-design principles to propulsion and spacecraft pressure systems.
• Support design and analysis of propulsion-system components and assemblies.
• Perform fluid-flow, pressure-system, thermodynamic, and thermal analyses.
• Develop models and data-analysis tools using Python or MATLAB.
• Create or review CAD drawings and 3D models.
• Support system architecture studies and technical trade assessments.
• Assist with material selection and fabrication methods.
• Participate in propulsion-hardware assembly and integration in lab or cleanroom environments.
• Plan and analyze tests, review results, and document findings.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, analysts, suppliers, and contractors.
