Job summary

Stellantis in Michigan is seeking an SRT Concept Propulsion Engineer to transform advanced propulsion ideas into CAD-driven concepts that support the development of high‑performance powertrains. You’ll work at the earliest stages of product development, defining engine architecture, packaging, airflow, thermal strategy, and system integration.

Collaborating with propulsion, calibration, CAE, manufacturing and vehicle engineering teams, you will translate performance targets into design criteria,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in propulsion, powertrain, engine systems, or high-performance vehicle development.
  • Proficiency with major 3D CAD platforms (NX/CATIA/Creo/SolidWorks).
  • Strong understanding of IC engines, air induction, thermal management, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to evaluate trade-offs and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, drawing standards, and product development processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate propulsion concepts including engine, induction, exhaust, lubrication, cooling, and drive systems.
  • Create parametric 3D models, assemblies, and packaging studies for rapid concept development.
  • Develop early packaging layouts to assess engine bay constraints and vehicle integration.
  • Generate concepts that maximize power density, airflow, thermal performance, and durability.
  • Assess alternative architectures for performance, manufacturability, cost, weight, and risk.
  • Collaborate with propulsion design, CAE, calibration, NVH, manufacturing, and vehicle teams.
  • Translate performance targets into design criteria, packaging requirements, and concepts.
  • Develop quick CAD updates and concept variants to support program decisions.
  • Benchmark competitor propulsion technologies and identify innovation opportunities.
  • Prepare concept models, layouts, design reviews, BOMs, and engineering presentations.
