Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a SRT Concept Propulsion Engineer to transform advanced propulsion ideas into CAD-driven concepts supporting high-performance powertrain development. The role spans early-stage architecture, packaging, airflow management, and system integration.

You will collaborate with propulsion, CAE, calibration, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering teams to establish the technical foundation for future propulsion programs while delivering rapid concept variants and design guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of propulsion, powertrain, engine systems, or high-performance vehicle development.

Responsibilities

• Propulsion System Architecture: develop and evaluate propulsion concepts.
• Advanced CAD Modeling: create parametric 3D models and packaging studies.
• Engine & Vehicle Packaging: develop early packaging layouts.
• Performance-Driven Concept Development: maximize power density and thermal performance.
• Feasibility & Trade Studies: assess architectures for performance, manufacturability, cost, weight, timing, and risk.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: partner with multiple teams to mature concepts.
• Requirements Translation: convert targets into design criteria and concepts.
• Rapid Iteration: quick-turn CAD updates and variant exploration.
• Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis: evaluate competitor technologies.
• Technical Documentation: prepare concept models and engineering presentations.
