Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Proposal Manager to lead the development of complex proposals and presentations for North America. You will drive capture planning, develop win themes, differentiate offerings, and customize responses to RFPs/RFQs, while guiding the team in effective proposal writing and presentations.

Responsibilities include leading strategy, coordinating with PMs/SMEs, creating compelling storyboards, and ensuring high-quality, compliant outputs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience developing strategic submissions in the AEC industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, business, or related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Strong ability to manage, motivate others, and foster collaboration.
  • Effective communication with technical staff and management across disciplines.
  • Excellent time and project management in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal strategy and development of creative, targeted proposals across practices.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and SMEs to develop capture plans and win strategies.
  • Coordinate with technical staff to craft strategic proposal responses.
  • Highlight strengths and differentiators throughout proposals and presentations.
  • Develop RFI responses with subconsultant teaming partners as needed.
  • Customize all sections of proposals, including resumes and project descriptions.
  • Lead proposal meetings, reviews, and related activities.
  • Review drafts for responsiveness, compliance, quality, and layout.
  • Support pursuits and strategic pursuit processes.
  • Lead development of proposals and presentations with key messages and themes.
  • Conduct storyboarding to drive content plans and layout aligned with brand standards.
  • Engage with technical staff, SMEs, and teaming partners to ensure strong communication.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, skilled Proposal Manager to lead the development of complex proposals and presentations to win competitive projects in North America. This role requires exceptional leadership skills to drive the process, from capture planning through the coordination and development of compliant, compelling responses to RFPs/RFQs, client interviews, and presentations. The successful candidate must effectively convey the messaging identified through capture and prepositioning, including win themes, differentiators, and value propositions, and comprehensively customize all aspects of the proposal. In addition, the Proposal Manager will provide guidance, training, and assistance to the team in effective proposal writing, coordination, and preparation of presentations. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Support and facilitate capture planning activities ahead of the release of solicitation documents.
  • Lead proposal strategy and development of creative, compelling, and targeted proposals across all practices.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and subject matter experts to develop and execute capture plans, win strategies and client-focused value propositions.
  • Facilitate coordination with technical staff in developing strategic proposal responses to meet proposal requirements.
  • Highlight strengths and differentiators throughout all sections of the proposal and presentations.
  • Develop Requests for Information based on client RFPs/RFQs and collaborate with subconsultant teaming partners for proposal needs.
  • Customize all sections of proposals, including resumes and project descriptions.
  • Lead and participate in proposal meetings, reviews, and related activities.
  • Review proposal drafts and final versions for responsiveness, compliance, accuracy, quality, consistent writing style, and effective layout and design.
  • Support the development and implementation of pursuits and strategic pursuit processes.
  • Lead the development of proposals and presentations, including key messages, themes, and differentiators.
  • Conduct storyboarding to drive content plans, develop graphics and layout in line with brand standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with technical staff, subject matter experts, and prospective teaming partners to promote effective communication and partnerships.
  • Assist with presentations, conduct technical staff interviews, archive proposals, and update company/business information.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position in New York, NY is $121,000 - $148,000

The expected salary for this position in Iselin, NJ is $116,500 - $142,500

The expected salary for this position in Raleigh, NC is $102,000 - $124,000

The expected salary for this position in Westwood, MA is $117,000 - $143,000

The expected salary for this position in Pittsburgh, PA is $102,500 - $124,500

The expected salary for this position in Philadelphia, PA is $110,000 - $134,000
