Job summary

Wharton-Smith Construction Group is seeking a Proposal Specialist to lead proposal development for commercial construction and water/wastewater projects across the Southeast. You’ll manage all phases from strategy to delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years in proposals or marketing, strong writing/editing skills, and the ability to travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• 3-5 years in proposal development, pursuit management, marketing, or related disciplines.
• Construction/Architecture/Engineering industry experience preferred.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary pursuit teams and coordinating proposal efforts.
• Experience coaching teams for interviews and presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across organizational levels.
• Ability to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, compile, and track proposal materials to meet client deadlines and satisfy requirements throughout the pursuit lifecycle.
• Lead the preparation, production, and delivery of proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, and other marketing documents.
• Write and edit project summaries, staff resumes, project descriptions, and other pursuit content.
• Ensure materials align with client requirements and branding standards.
• Proofread and standardize content for quality and consistency.
• Maintain project information databases and marketing resource libraries across phases.
• Prepare and coach teams for formal interviews and shortlist presentations.
• Facilitate pursuit strategy meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage multiple concurrent pursuits and deadlines.
• Attend project milestones and client presentations.
• Coordinate award submissions and industry recognition programs.
• Support general marketing and communications initiatives; some travel/overtime required.
