Evapco, Inc. is seeking a Proposal Engineer I to support the sales team in developing proposals, estimating costs, and preparing competitive bids for cooling tower projects. You will collaborate with internal teams to respond to specifications and craft effective project strategies.

The role requires a technical/engineering background, strong communication skills, and up to five years in related fields. Expect involvement across pre-bid activities, post-award transition, and ongoing database

Qualifications

• Background in technical / engineering product applications.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS or equivalent in math/science).
• Zero to five years of experience in Proposal Management, Project Management, or Application Sales.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, and support all assigned budget and firm proposals requiring an EvapTech response.
• Develop and implement proposal strategies with management and Business Development Managers.
• Coordinate with internal and external contacts to estimate labor, material and freight costs.
• Set bid prices using established pricing guidelines and management review.
• Consult with team members to review customer technical and commercial specifications.
• Prepare thermal selections and performance predictions of standard counterflow & crossflow cooling towers using StarDM software and vendor software.
• Attend customer meetings and pre-bid job walks as required to gather bid information.
• Develop scopes to highlight EvapTech’s strengths and meet customer expectations.
• Maintain accuracy of Quote Database and assist in Sales Forecasting / Budgeting.
• Create accurate entries in the Tower Reference Library.
• Assist with Project Management to resolve conflicts of scope and transition from proposal to project phase.
• Prepare inspection reports with Construction & management support to determine recommended repairs.

Job Title:

Proposal Engineer I

Reports to:

Inside Sales Manager

Role Definition:

Provide bid support to the sales team in the development of proposals, including tower selections, specification & contract review, material & labor estimates, and proposal preparation. Work with departments to complete specification responses, project strategies, accurate cost estimates, and competitive pricing.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, & support all assigned budget & firm proposals requiring an EvapTech response.
• Develop & implement proposal strategies with management & Business Development Managers.
• Coordinate with both internal & external contacts to estimate labor, material & freight costs.
• Set bid prices using established pricing guidelines & management review.
• Consult with team members in review of customer technical & commercial specifications.

BDM Support

• Develop scopes to highlight EvapTech’s strengths and meet customer expectations.
• Attend customer meetings and/or pre-bid job walks as required to gather information required for bids.

Database Upkeep

• Maintain accuracy of Quote Database and assist in Sales Forecasting / Budgeting.
• Create accurate entries in the Tower Reference Library.

Post-Award Support

• Perform a smooth transition from proposal management to project management phases of a contract.
• Assist with Project Management as necessary to resolve conflicts of scope expectation.
• Prepare inspection reports with Construction & management support to determine recommended repairs.
• Act as a Project Manager on inspection projects with no material scope of supply.

Technical Design & Support

• Prepare thermal selections & performance predications of standard counterflow & crossflow cooling towers using the StarDM software & fan vendor software.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Background in technical / engineering product applications
2. Strong verbal and written communications skills
3. Computer skills including Microsoft Office
4. Demonstrated organizational skills
5. Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Science or strong math & science coursework)
6. Zero to five years of experience in Proposal Management, Project Management, or Application Sales

Optional but Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an ABET/EAC program or recognized equivalent
2. Direct application sales experience in Capital / Engineered Products
3. Experience in contract and commercial terms
4. Direct experience in the cooling tower industry
