Job summary

SpaceX, based in Hawthorne, CA, seeks an experienced Property Tax Analyst to manage property tax compliance, audits, and appeals nationwide. You will coordinate data with external providers, work with accounting teams, review notices, and stay current on tax laws. Onsite in Hawthorne with potential to optimize taxes across multiple states.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of property tax experience, plus strong Excel skills and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, real estate, finance or related field.
• 2+ years of work experience as a property tax professional in a consulting firm or multi-state company.
• Strong knowledge of property tax laws and assessment/valuation methodologies.
• Experience managing relationships with external consultants.
• Experience with appeals process in Texas and other states.

Responsibilities

• Gather and review data and coordinate with providers to prepare personal property tax returns across US states.
• Collaborate with fixed asset accounting to ensure data accuracy.
• Review assessment notices for discrepancies and savings opportunities.
• Perform tax research on property tax matters and stay updated on laws.
• Manage external consultants and set clear expectations.
• Identify tax relief incentives and assist in property tax appeal strategies.
• Prepare property tax audits responses and maintain tax calendars.
• Ensure timely payment of property tax bills and assist with admin tasks.
• Coordinate annual site inspections with county appraisers.
