Job summary

Transylvania County Tax Administration Department seeks a Business/Personal Property Appraiser II to join the team. The role covers appraisal of business personal property, motor vehicles, aircraft, and other personal property for tax assessment and billing, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance with NC laws.

The position requires analyzing financial data, preparing notices and bills, and guiding property owners through listing forms and exemptions.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and numerical abilities required.
• Ability to interpret financial records and depreciation schedules.
• Familiarity with property tax processes and exemptions preferred.
• Excellent communication and public interaction skills.
• Experience with GIS or property records systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Appraise and assess business personal property, aircraft, motor vehicles and other taxable personal property.
• Conduct annual business personal property audits to ensure compliance with NC tax laws.
• Analyze data to support accurate valuation and tax billing.
• Assist in organizing tax bill printing and annual abstract creation.
• Guide property owners with listing forms and exemption processes.
• Maintain and update assessment notices and tax bills.
