Job summary

Jefferson County Assessor's Office is seeking a Personal Property Appraiser in Colorado to perform appraisal and auditing of business personal property for tax purposes. The role involves field auditing, data verification, and responding to taxpayer inquiries.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of related appraisal experience; preferred are an associate degree and 3+ years in accounting or appraisal.

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school diploma or GED; 1 year of general or personal property appraisal experience.
• Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and appraisal methodologies.
• Equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Preferred: associate degree or higher; 3+ years of accounting or general appraisal experience.

Responsibilities

• Audit, inspect, and estimate value of business personal property.
• Process declaration forms and respond to inquiries and complaints.
• Provide information to businesses about assessment process and handle appeals/abatements.
• Data entry and account management; prepare for hearings as needed.
• Support testifying in hearings when required.
