Job summary

S & A Property Preservation Group L in Pittsburgh is seeking a practical property preservation technician to maintain and secure vacant, foreclosed properties and conduct inspections.

You will document conditions with before-and-after photos, perform yard work, debris removal, winterization, and carry out minor repairs to help protect assets during ownership transitions.

Responsibilities

• Occupancy verification and documentation of current property condition.
• Capture detailed before/after photos and complete digital checklists.
• Conduct code compliance audits for local violations and safety hazards.
• Secure properties by changing locks or boarding up openings.
• Perform debris removal and trash-out duties inside and outside.
• Maintain yards: mowing, trimming, leaf removal.
• Winterization: drain plumbing and add antifreeze to prevent freeze damage.
• Carry out minor repairs to fix fixtures, holes, roofs or flooring.

Property preservation job duties involve maintaining, securing, and inspecting vacant, foreclosed, or distressed properties.

Occupancy Checks: Verify whether a property is vacant or occupied and document the current condition.

Condition Reporting: Take detailed "before and after" photos and complete digital condition checklists or forms.

Code Compliance Audits: Check properties for municipal or local code violations, damages, and safety hazards.

Property Securing and Maintenance

Securing Assets: Change locks, padlock gates, or board up broken windows and doors to prevent trespassing.

Debris Removal ("Trash-Outs"): Clear out personal property, trash, and abandoned items from the interior and exterior.

Yard Maintenance: Cut grass, trim overgrown shrubs, clear leaves, and perform basic landscaping.

Winterization: Drain plumbing systems and add antifreeze to prevent frozen or burst pipes during cold months.

Minor Repairs: Fix broken fixtures, patch holes, or repair damaged roofs and flooring
