Job summary

VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Maintenance Specialist in a part-time, non-exempt role. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, apartments, and offices in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette or Lake Charles areas to ensure safe and inviting properties for clients and staff.

This position requires manual labor, coordination with contractors as needed, and adherence to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform of the position.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks as described in the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose property and equipment problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Perform highly diversified duties (including basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry) to install and maintain property and equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on properties and provide emergency/unscheduled repairs when needed.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and maintain effective working relationships with managers/staff/clients and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed (approved by Facilities Director).
• Other duties as assigned.
