Job summary

Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to keep Arboleda Apartments in Walnut Creek in excellent condition. You will inspect units, perform repairs, and coordinate with the property manager on preventive maintenance.

This full-time role requires hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliance repairs, plus the ability to read work orders and manage supplies. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of relevant maintenance or trade experience preferred.
• Experience in affordable housing/property management is a plus.
• Knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains property or properties in an inspection ready state.
• Evaluates nature of problem from a work order request and performs maintenance or repair.
• Prepares unit turns including moving appliances, painting and occupancy repairs.
• Monitors boilers, pumps, electric motors, fire sprinkler and HVAC systems; arrange vendor if needed.
• Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on building and unit systems.
• Repairs appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, heaters and disposals.
• Plumbing replacement/repairs on water/sewer lines, drains, toilets, faucets and water heaters as needed.
• Maintains doors, locks, hinges and makes keys.
• Carpentry tasks: drywall, cabinets, flooring, window panes, minor dry rot replacement.
• Maintains and repairs roofs, drainage, irrigation, walkways and parking surfaces.
• Notifies management about major replacements and collects vendor bids.
• Coordinates with property manager on preventive maintenance and large projects.
• Inspects and reports on external vendor work quality.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Supports exterior public areas and cleaning duties.
• On-call maintenance staff for assigned region (two-week shift coverage).
• Guides other maintenance staff on routine tasks or small projects.
• Works with computer systems to manage work orders and communications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
