Job summary

Northstar Properties is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain the property, complete resident work orders, perform preventative maintenance, and keep apartments, buildings, grounds, and amenities safe, clean, and in good working condition.

The role collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor, Property Manager, and office team to provide excellent service to residents and maintain Northstar Properties' standards.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining residential properties or similar facilities.
• Ability to diagnose common maintenance issues and follow safety protocols.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a team and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned resident work orders accurately, timely, and professionally.
• Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, drywall, painting, and other general maintenance issues.
• Perform apartment make-readies and prepare units for new residents.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and property grounds.
• Maintain pools and ensure pool areas and equipment are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
• Assist with grounds, common areas, amenities, and overall property appearance as needed.
• Provide maintenance support and fill in at other Northstar Properties when needed to assist with staffing, work orders, make-readies, emergencies, or other property needs.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and participate in the required on-call rotation.
• Document work performed and properly close out completed work orders.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, lifting techniques, and safe handling of tools and equipment.
• Maintain an organized and clean maintenance shop, storage areas, and work areas.
• Properly use, maintain, and account for company tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) requirements and know where SDS information is located for products used on the property.
• Report safety hazards, property damage, equipment problems, and maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager.
• Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and other team members with special projects and property needs.
• Work cooperatively with the maintenance and office teams and communicate important property and resident issues promptly.
• Follow Northstar Properties policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
