Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years’ general building maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in general mathematics for construction calculations.
• Ability to pass 80%+ on a housing authority or related maintenance certification exam/test.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must maintain a neat, clean appearance and a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties regularly to determine repairs and maintenance needs.
• Maintain interior and exterior areas including cleaning, mowing, sweeping, and landscape care.
• Handle trash and debris removal; assist with trash chute rooms and grounds.
• Perform electrical, plumbing, heating, carpentry, painting, masonry, roofing, tiling, and other repairs as needed.
• Operate maintenance equipment safely (mowers, snow blowers, buffers, etc.).
• Process work orders and assist with REAC, emergency and non-emergency repairs.
• Respond to after-hours or holiday emergency maintenance calls as required.
