Job summary

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Property/Inventory Clerk to inspect, secure, and inventory assigned property, and provide clerical support within a jail facility. Responsibilities include processing inmate property and mail, maintaining stock, preparing work orders, and assisting supervisors with typing and errands.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills (Excel/Outlook), and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic computer skills including Excel and Outlook.
Past job experience in property/inventory control preferred.
Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

Process inmate property, filing, delivering items to inmate, packing property when inmate goes to DOC and releasing property to family.
Process department mail, locate cell locations in database, open and inspect inmate mail and packages, and distribute mail.
Daily pickup of postal mail from the Post Office.
Answer inmate requests and grievance forms regarding mail or other personal property.
Process new inventory into stock for area of assignment and maintain it.
Prepare and maintain work orders.
Assist supervisor with tasks such as typing and errands.
Perform routine office tasks such as record keeping, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning and photocopying.
Prepare routine and recurring reports and special reports as required.
Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is essential.
Ability to climb steps to upper level of the property room.
