Job summary

Starr Insurance Companies seeks a Loss Control Professional to conduct on-site risk surveys for diverse commercial properties, including process industries, stadiums, data centers, and hospitals. Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site risk surveys for process industries, stadiums, data centers, hospitals, and other commercial properties.
• Perform risk assessment reviews for underwriters and participate in account/broker meetings.
• Evaluate sprinkler systems and fire alarm plans and provide guidance to clients and underwriting staff.
• Maintain inspection records and produce survey reports with clear recommendations.

Job Description

Conducting property loss control inspections of various types of process industries and commercial properties. This will include occupancies such as: Process Industries, Stadiums, Data Centers, High Rises, Metal Workers, Distribution Centers, Museums, and Hospitals.

Performing risk assessment account reviews for underwriters, account/broker meetings, and presentations.

Evaluating sprinkler systems, building additions, and fire alarm plan reviews and providing guidance to clients.

Responsible for maintaining own schedule and writing survey reports. Provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality/insurability. Maintaining up-to-date inspection record data base.

Job functions break out is approximately:

• Desktop review/risk selection and project work (40%)
• On-site surveys and risk evaluation report writing of existing and prospective clients (40%)
• Underwriting/Broker/Team meeting (10%)
• General Consulting and Presentations (10%)

This position will include on-the-job and inhouse training. Travel can be up to 25% A company car is provided.

Skills Experience / Required

• Preferred experience of performing field inspections for an insurance, fire bureau, consulting, or brokerage company.
• College graduate with minimum Bachelors of Science in recognized engineering discipline with preference given to fire protection.
• Understanding basics of sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, process hazards, property loss control issues preferred.
• Technical knowledge of loss prevention codes (NFPA, FM, API, ASME, etc.) standards and industry practices preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication, writing, organization, customer relation, public speaking and time management skills.
• Good familiarity with basic computer operations with knowledge of software programs such as Word and Excel.
