Job summary

The City of Peoria is seeking a Property & Evidence Supervisor to lead the Property & Evidence Unit, ensuring integrity, security, and accountability of the department’s evidence program. This full-time civilian supervisory role guides staff, maintains chain-of-custody standards, and coordinates inventories, audits, and accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

• Two-year Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of three years related experience in property/evidence or similar.
• Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License.
• Terminal Operator Certification.
• IAPE certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead Property & Evidence personnel with training, coaching, accountability, and professional development.
• Maintain defensible chain of custody for all property and evidence.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, department policies, retention requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Coordinate inventories, audits, inspections, and quality-control reviews.
• Oversee disposition, storage, and inventory-reduction processes.
• Maintain appropriate access controls, security procedures, alarms, CCTV for facilities.
• Evaluate and improve evidence-management systems, barcode technology, databases, and workflows.
• Participate in planning for future Property & Evidence facilities, storage and relocation.
• Provide training on handling, chain of custody, safety, and department policies.
• Apply data and performance measures to identify risk and drive operational improvements.
