Job summary

The City of Hampton is seeking a Property & Evidence Technician to perform a variety of responsible, complex, technical and administrative duties in the property and evidence containment and distribution sector of the Hampton Police Division.

The incumbent may be considered essential personnel during city emergencies, with long hours and unusual schedules as required by the City Manager or designee. Strong communication, computer skills (Word/Access/Excel) and integrity are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Some prior law enforcement or records management experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain NCIC/VCIN certifications within 90 days of employment.
• Must complete a Police Division background investigation and pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record per City criteria.
• Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
• Oral, written and presentation skills required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.

Minimum Requirements

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.

• Must successfully complete a Police Division background investigation and pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
