Job summary

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Property and Evidence Clerk to attend to receiving, storing and releasing inmate property and video evidence, and to perform essential clerical duties in support of investigations. This role maintains electronic records, handles storage of video evidence used in investigations, and supports public records requests while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of work experience, preferably in a law enforcement setting.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• Pass pre-employment screening, a stringent background investigation, and required drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, inventory, store, and release inmate property and evidence.
• Maintain electronic records and storage of Jail video evidence used in investigations.
• Testify in court regarding property or evidence as needed.
• Dispose of unclaimed property and coordinate auctions when necessary.
• Maintain and update property and video evidence procedures.
• Process public records requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
