Hull & Company is seeking a Broker for our property brokerage group. This is a 100% remote opportunity offering a base salary and commission.

Reviews insurance submissions & applications to evaluate, qualify & market individuals and groups for insurance by performing the following duties:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  1. Examines documents such as application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps, and loss runs to determine risk levels based on factors like ISO classifications, applicant financials, age, occupation, accident history, and property condition.
  2. Reviews company records to determine insurance in force on risks, evaluating potential losses from catastrophe or excess insurance.
  3. Broking risks by ensuring all information is complete, applications are correctly filled, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued accurately and promptly, state filings are made where applicable, and taxes are paid according to state laws. Secures payments on risks written or bound.
  4. Analyzes and qualifies risks submitted by Producers, evaluates submissions for premium and terms, analyzes exposures for quotes on new and renewal business, issues indications, quotes, and binders; may involve inspection companies for further information or to explain underwriting policies.
  5. Develops and maintains relationships with carriers and brokerages to place risks and grow the book of business.
  6. Markets and meets with retail agency customers to develop business and foster relationships.
  7. Extends Company facilities, brokers risks when needed, and manages quote to bind activities and production results.
  8. Services existing business, produces new business, and manages priorities effectively.
  9. Instructs and trains processors and assistants, reviews submissions, quotes, binders, and policies for accuracy and completeness.
  10. Provides guidance and training to reduce clerical workload and develop brokering skills.
  11. Fosters relationships with other departments, producers, and competitors, and collaborates with underwriting departments to identify opportunities.
  12. Works with Branch Leaders to improve skills, submits marketing and production plans, and consults on unusual or complex coverages.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or five years insurance experience, including two years as an underwriting assistant.
  • P&C State license.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and paperless environments.
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor.
  • Experience with excess and surplus lines underwriting.
  • Willingness to travel as required, with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and insurance coverage.
