Hull & Company is seeking a Broker for our property brokerage group. This is a 100% remote opportunity with a salary range of $65,000 to $100,000 plus commissions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  1. Examine documents such as application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps, and loss runs to determine degree of risk from factors such as ISO classifications, applicant financials, age, occupation, accident experience, and value and condition of property.
  2. Review company records to determine amount of insurance in force on single risk or group of closely related risks and evaluate possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance.
  3. Broker risks, ensuring that all required information is obtained, proper applications are completed, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately, state filings (where applicable) are made, and taxes paid in accordance with appropriate state laws. Secure payments on risks bound or written.
  4. Review, analyze and qualify risks submitted by Producers, evaluate submissions for premium and terms, analyze exposures for quotes for new and renewal business, issue written indications, quotes, and binders; possibly use inspection companies to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain company underwriting policies.
  5. Develop and cultivate carrier and brokerage relationships to place specific risks and grow a book of business.
  6. Market and meet with retail agency customers to develop business and cultivate relationships to grow a book of business.
  7. Understand and extend Company facilities, brokering risks when required to successfully negotiate a placement; be responsible for your quote to bind activity & production results.
  8. Service and perpetuate existing business, produce new business, and maintain a keen awareness of priorities.
  9. Instruct and train processors and assistants, review indications, quotes, binders, submissions and policies for completeness and accuracy.
  10. Provide guidance and training to the processors and assistants, enabling them to reduce the broker’s clerical workload, and develop basic brokering skills and techniques.
  11. Foster and improve relationships with other departments, producers, companies, and competitors, as well as maintain a close working relationship with the binding / contract underwriting department to identify ‘best fit’ production opportunities.
  12. Work closely with Branch Leaders to improve your competence; submit production and marketing plans outlining new programs or methods of improving existing ones.
  13. Confer with the Branch Leader before underwriting or brokering unusual or unfamiliar coverages or manuscript forms.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :

  1. Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or university is desired or five years insurance experience, two years of which is as an underwriting assistant.
  2. Proficient with MS Office Suite and in a paperless environment.
  3. Experience with excess and surplus lines underwriting agency or company.
  4. This position requires routine or periodic travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position.
