Job summary

The City of Hartford seeks a skilled assessor in the Assessment Division of the Finance Department. Under supervision, you will perform professional property appraisal work and monitor title changes on land records.

You will coordinate data with processing programs and may supervise clerical staff in assessment-related tasks. Qualifications include a four-year degree in accounting or related field and several years of experience in property value estimation, title searching, or construction cost

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major work in accounting, business administration, or a closely-related field
• Two years of responsible experience in estimating real or personal property values, title searching or building construction cost estimating (or total six years when substituting training/experience)
• Copy of diploma or transcript must be submitted with application and will be verified

Responsibilities

• Assist in the assessment of real and personal property at increasing levels of complexity
• Monitor and update real estate title changes on land records
• Coordinate assessor's records with data processing programs
• May supervise clerical personnel in assessment office functions
• Investigate depreciation and replacement values and assist in pricing automotive equipment
