Job summary

Deschutes County is seeking Property Appraisers to perform straightforward or standardized appraisals of real property to establish fair assessed values. Positions may choose a flex schedule during parts of the year, with opportunities to work independently on residential, farm, and forest properties.

Ideal candidates bring knowledge of appraisal principles, land mapping, property descriptions, and precise reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with emphasis in accounting, business, real estate or related field; AND one (1) year of property appraisal experience; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
• Associate's degree with emphasis in accounting, business, real estate or related field; AND two (2) years of property appraisal experience; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.

Responsibilities

• Appraiser I focuses on valuations of straightforward residential properties.
• Appraiser II is oriented toward independent work, conducting property appraisals with discretion and judgment, for residential, farm, and forest properties.
