Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Property Accountant in Port Huron, MI to serve as a SME in property accounting. You will oversee fixed assets, construction accounting, and reporting, partnering with operations and finance teams to drive accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in property accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel. This contract role supports accurate project accounting and asset reporting in a hybrid Port Huron

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with focus on property accounting, fixed assets, or capital projects.
Solid understanding of GAAP and strong analytical skills.
Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Prepare complex property-related journal entries and record fixed asset transactions accurately.
Manage monthly property account reconciliations and lead the property accounting close process.
Monitor fixed asset accounts for completeness and accuracy per accounting standards.
Provide oversight for CWIP, RWIP, job costing, and capital project accounting.
Prepare financial statements, schedules, and property accounting analyses.
Review capital expenditures and determine asset classification and capitalization.
Oversee asset changes, depreciation, and retirements; resolve discrepancies.
Support audits with schedules and documentation; develop internal controls.
