Job summary

The Squires Group in Port Huron, MI seeks an experienced Property Accountant for a fully onsite role. This position focuses on property accounting, fixed assets, financial reporting, and compliance within a highly regulated environment.

You will own journal entries, close processes, asset records, CWIP and job costing, tax reporting, and assist with audits to ensure SOX compliance. A Bachelor's in Accounting and at least five years of property accounting experience are required; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with strong property accounting.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with fixed assets and account reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant for a fully onsite position in Port Huron, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with financial reporting, fixed assets, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in a highly regulated environment.

In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for property accounting activities, helping ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of fixed assets and construction-related accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare property-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Manage monthly property accounting close activities.
• Analyze and maintain fixed asset records.
• Oversee CWIP, RWIP, job costing, and job order processes.
• Support property tax reporting, depreciation activities, and regulatory filings.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation.
• Utility industry experience.
• Knowledge of FERC regulations and Uniform System of Accounts.
• Experience in a regulated environment.

Compensation

• The compensation for this role as a consultant starts at $42/hour, based on experience and qualifications. This rate is subject to change.
