Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain the financial records for a portfolio of properties (approximately 8-12). Provide support to Property Managers and Corporate team members regarding questions.
- Prepare monthly financial statements such as balance sheet, income statement and cash flows.
- Work with managers and other staff regarding financial questions and resolutions for the properties assigned.
- Perform month-end close duties, including but not limited to:
- Maintain and oversee lender escrow analysis and prepaid/accrued expense analysis
- Balance sheet reconciliations and adjusting/reclass journal entries
- Bank reconciliation for operating/savings accounts
- Management fee calculation and invoicing.
- General ledger and operating statement review and adjusting/reclass journal entries.
- Monthly/quarterly reimbursement submission to lenders.
- Assist with Year End Audit and tax preparation. Manage year-end audit and tax return punch list items to ensure timely resolution and meet audit deadlines inside governing documents.
- Reconcile Cash Accounts, manage cash and payables. Assist with Accounts Payable.
- Work with vendors to resolve invoice problems.
- Work with managers and other staff to resolve AP/AR issues.
- Review and reconcile entries in Real Page Accounting software.
- Complete projects as assigned.
- Serve as backup for other Property Accountants as needed.
- Comply with local ordinances, state, and federal laws, including Fair Housing laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- B.A. in Accounting preferred.
- Must have three (3) years of accounting experience.
- General knowledge of accounting methods and practices, GAAP, and financial reporting as well as accounting methods and practices.
- Knowledge of multifamily property management practices and processes: Fair Housing laws and regulations, building and grounds maintenance, resident relations, leasing, rent collection, eviction procedures, accounting principles, property safety, and use of property management.
- Valid driver’s license required. Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check (required).
Preferred Skills
- Strong experience with Real Page Accounting and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledgeable in the use of other Microsoft Office products including proficient in the use of Microsoft Word.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Able to interact well with others at all levels.
- Ability to build positive interactions and relationships with teams.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
