Job summary

The Bachrach Group is seeking a Senior Property Accountant for their New York portfolio. You will own monthly financial reporting, close the general ledger, perform reconciliations, and analyze variances to guide decisions across a diversified commercial/industrial property portfolio.

You will manage cash flow, banking activity, and forecasting while coordinating with property managers, ownership, lenders, and internal teams. This role emphasizes accuracy, analytical rigor, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Commercial/industrial real estate or property accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Strong cash management, forecasting, and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar property accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reporting packages for multiple properties.
  • Manage monthly general ledger close, journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results, budget variances, and property performance and provide meaningful commentary.
  • Manage property-level cash flow, forecasting, distributions, and banking activity.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
  • Monitor critical property obligations, including real estate taxes, insurance, debt service, and other significant expenses.
  • Monitor debt balances, loan covenants, lender escrows, and replacement reserves.
  • Oversee AP activity and ensure timely payment of property expenses.
  • Support annual budgeting, reforecasting, acquisitions, and dispositions.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for year-end reporting.
  • Partner with property managers, asset managers, ownership, lenders, and internal teams to resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Assist with training team members and improving accounting processes and procedures.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring
