Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a finance professional in Dallas, TX to manage a portfolio of complex properties. You will deliver GAAP-compliant financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, partnering with property managers to align operational reporting with strategic goals.

The role involves preparing monthly packages for institutional owners, tracking covenants, and ensuring accurate accruals and reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Accounting required.
• CPA license required; GAAP knowledge.
• 3 years of real estate or public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with property managers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as financial expert for a designated portfolio of complex properties.
• Provide timely reporting including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages for institutional owners and asset managers.
• Collaborate with property managers on operations reporting.
• Track debt covenants and prepare required reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Record tax basis entries and prepare tax and audit work papers.
• Monitor delinquencies and coordinate with property management.
• Work with Lease Administrators on lease terminology.
• Monitor cash, critical payments, and funding reports.
• Support budget preparation and review budget uploads into accounting software.
• Track tenant upfit allowances using Excel and job costing software.
• Maintain fixed asset listings and depreciation.
• Analyze data and provide answers for owners.
• Prepare personal property tax listings and monitor sales/use tax.

Job description

• Serve as financial expert for a designated portfolio of complex properties
• Provide timely and accurate reporting of financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
• Report financial records, budgets, and forecasts for the assigned portfolio
• Collaborate with property managers on operations reporting
• Implement company-wide property management accounting and reporting initiatives
• Prepare monthly reporting packages for institutional owners and asset managers
• Track debt covenant reporting deadlines and prepare required reports
• Prepare and review monthly accruals and straight-line rent journal entries
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Record tax basis entries and prepare tax and audit work papers
• Monitor delinquencies and coordinate with property management
• Work with Lease Administrators on lease terminology
• Monitor cash, critical payments, and funding reports
• Support budget preparation and review budget uploads into accounting software
• Track tenant upfit allowances using Excel and job costing software
• Maintain fixed asset listings and depreciation
• Analyze data and provide answers for owners

• Handle other duties assigned by the Assistant Controller

Requirements

• Four year degree in Accounting required
• 3 years of real estate and/or public accounting experience preferred
• GAAP experience required
• Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
• High degree of professionalism
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Team oriented, with the ability to build effective relationships in a cohesive business environment
• First 90 days in the office for training
• High proficiency in Excel desired
• MRI and/or Yardi preferred
• FAS asset software
• CPA license required
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
