Job summary

NAI Hiffman is seeking an experienced Real Estate Property Accounting Manager to lead a small team and oversee daily financial reporting. The role combines people leadership with hands-on accounting, ensuring accuracy in CAM reconciliations, budgeting, and month-end close.

You will mentor staff, conduct performance evaluations, and coordinate with Assistant Controllers to balance property portfolios, while maintaining policies and procedures and delivering timely, compliant reports to clients.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Real Estate property accounting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • CPA license is a plus but not required.
  • MRI and Yardi experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi task.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • The ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Effective team player who also possesses the ability to work independently.
  • Hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday with remote working opportunities.

  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to internal tracking systems.
  • Promote accountability and ensure timely delivery of financial reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist the accounting team during month-end close to ensure deadlines are met and financial integrity is maintained.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Oversight
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to internal tracking systems
  • Promote accountability and ensure timely delivery of financial reports to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Support adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist the accounting team during month-end close to ensure deadlines are met and financial integrity is maintained
Staffing & Property Management
  • Participate in staffing decisions, including interviewing and hiring candidates
  • Oversee onboarding of new properties and maintain a small, rotating portfolio as needed
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding of properties proactively
Training & Documentation
  • Provide training to accounting personnel to support skill development and future growth
  • Assist in creating and maintaining training documentation
  • Develop and present departmental policies and procedures regularly
Financial Review & Compliance
  • Attend and actively engage in departmental and accounting management meetings
  • Ownership of internal review inbox as a collaborative team, along with Accounting Managers and Assistant Controllers
  • Review monthly financial reporting packages, distributions, and management fee calculations
  • Manage user access and maintenance in banking platforms
  • Assist in the annual review of CAM reconciliations and budget processes
Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain proactive communication with Assistant Controllers and the Director of Property Accounting regarding key activities and concerns
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, providing support and coverage as needed

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university. Minimum of five years of related experience and training preferred. In place of a BA/BS degree, must have six or more years related experience.
