Job summary

Socket.dev in New Jersey seeks a Property Accountant to manage accounting for a portfolio of properties, reporting to the Property Controller and collaborating with regional and property management.

Key duties include monthly closes, bank reconciliations, ledger review, budgeting, and quarterly state agency reporting; ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Strong knowledge of Yardi or similar software, solid MS Office skills, and the ability to analyze data and communicate findings across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting software.
• Understanding of state agency reporting.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Experience with tenant rent activities, including collections.
• Ability to interpret data and recommend improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for satisfying all aspects of accounting within a specific portfolio of properties. This position reports to the Property Controller and works directly with Regional and Property Management to analyze property results and performance.

Essential Job Functions

• Models and instills company mission and values
• Monthly closing of financial ledgers
• Completes timely bank reconciliations
• Reviews and analyzes ledger accounts
• Reviews budgets and plans forecasting
• Submits quarterly reporting to State Agencies
• Completes financial reporting package
• Addresses and resolves audit requests
• Responds to inquiries from regional and property managers
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience
• Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting software
• Understanding of state agency reporting
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Understanding of tenant rent activities, including collections
