Job summary

Flagship Healthcare Properties in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Property Accountant to accurately report property-level financial statements, manage tenant payments, and perform reconciliations for property managers, the controller, and tenants.

The role involves preparing monthly financial statements, reconciling CAM and other accruals, applying cash receipts, and coordinating with external CPAs for audits and tax returns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA candidate and/or CPA license preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of real estate accounting preferred.
• Yardi and/or MRI experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and remotely, and in a team environment.
• Excellent Excel skills and strong written/verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, trial balance, and cash flow statements.
• Recording monthly accruals to match expenses to period incurred.
• Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Applying cash receipts to tenant ledgers.
• Preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with opening new bank accounts when needed.
• Communicating financial packages internally and externally (investors, lenders, CPA firms, 3rd Party).
• Assisting with preparing annual budgets and year-end packages.
• Preparing year-end packages for tax return prep and audit.

Flagship Healthcare Properties is a rapidly growing commercial real estate investment firm located in Charlotte, NC that specializes in the acquisition, development, management and leasing of medical office properties, primarily in the Southeast.The Property Accountant is responsible for accurately reporting property-level financial statements, reporting tenant payments received and due and performing account analysis and reconciliation for Property Managers, Controller, and tenants upon request.The Property Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, trial balance, and cash flow statements
• Recording monthly accruals such as janitorial, security, and utility expenses to match expenses to period incurred
• Preparing Balance Sheet account reconciliations
• Applying Cash Receipts to tenant ledgers
• Preparing Monthly Bank Reconciliations
• Assist with opening new bank accounts when needed
• Effectively communicating (both written and verbal) monthly and quarterly financial packages internally and externally (investors, lenders, CPA firms, 3 rd Party)
• Assisting with preparing Annual Budgets
• Preparing year-end packages and sending to external CPAs for tax return preparation and annual audit
• Responding to questions/inquiries from tax accountants and auditors
• Reviewing tax returns and entering adjusting journal entries as provided by the tax accountants and auditors
• Approving invoices in AP system, Yardi PayScan or similar system
• Reviewing the weekly payables and making sure sufficient funds are availableOther duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• CPA candidate and/or CPA license preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of real estate accounting preferred
• Yardi and/or MRI experience preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
