Job summary

The Alley Theatre is seeking an Associate Properties Director to lead the prop shop, collaborate with the Properties Director, and support directors and designers in realizing scenic and properties concepts. You will help with budgeting, planning, and execution across the season and productions.

Responsibilities include supervising prop construction, coordinating with the design team, and managing shop resources.

Qualifications

• Three years' experience in a professional theatre or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in technical theatre or related field preferred.
• Strong leadership and supervision of artisans.
• Excellent verbal and written communications.
• Ability to read and interpret working drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plan procurement and build of props with scheduling and supervision.
• Estimate material and labor costs with team and manage budgets.
• Assist scenic designers through production stages and propose solutions.
• Oversee prop shop during build, run, and strike of productions.
• Lead prop department meetings and disseminate information to staff.
• Ensure safety compliance and maintain production quality standards.
