Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is recruiting a Materials Process Engineer / Propellant Chemist for its Missile Solutions Segment, in Camden, AR or Orange, VA. The role emphasizes propellant chemistry, manufacturing processes and support for propulsion materials and processes.

Responsibilities include design and optimization of propellant formulations, data analysis, materials selection, and ensuring documentation and compliance with specification and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering with 4 years of related technical experience in energetic materials. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops and modifies processes and methods for manufacture and utilization of solid rocket propellants and energetics formulations.
• Provides imaginative, thorough and practical solutions using chemistry and chemical engineering principles and tools.
• Participates in design processes including trade studies, supplier selection, concurrent design and development, materials characterization, data analysis, and drawing review.
• Responsible for preparation, execution and maintenance of materials and process specifications and materials control plans (PMPP, corrosion control and contamination control).
• Analyzes materials and material components to establish operating data, conducts tests and evaluates results; selects materials based on specs and reliability.
• Completes documentation for processing, testing and use of materials.
• Drives corrective and preventive action to ensure continual improvement and leads root-cause investigations.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
