Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Propane Service Technician I in Wilmington, NC. You will install, maintain, and repair propane systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will perform tank installations, gas-line work, leak tests, and on-site service, while keeping accurate records and providing excellent customer service. CDL/Hazmat endorsements are required or obtainable, with competitive base pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsements or ability to obtain.
• Experience in propane preferred.
• General mechanical aptitude (hand tools).
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to effectively communicate in a team environment and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Install gas service and set tanks in accordance with applicable codes.
• Keep customers informed of proper handling and use of propane appliances.
• Size and install gas lines as necessary.
• Safely operate a service truck crane to install and remove customer tanks.
• Make necessary connections to appliances according to code.
• Perform tank and equipment maintenance to check tanks for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
• Perform pressure, leak and operating tests with proper documentation.
• Complete work orders documenting materials used and time expended.
• Connect/Disconnect gas service as needed.
• Record inventory of company assets including tanks, appliances and parts.
• Serve on the on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls.
