Job summary

ThompsonGas is hiring a Propane Service Technician in Manassas, VA, to safely deliver, install, and service propane systems and appliances. You will follow safety procedures while ensuring quality customer service in every interaction.

The role requires CDL A/B, tanker and hazmat endorsements, and 2+ years of propane experience. Candidates must be able to lift 75 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather, and participate in on-call shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid CDL-A or CDL-B.
• Valid Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements.
• 2+ years of propane or related crossover experience (HVAC, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanic).
• Deep understanding of propane safety regulations, including proper handling procedures and emergency response.
• Capability to lift propane tanks up to 75 lbs., dig trenches, and work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to safely work in small or enclosed spaces
• Availability to work on-call rotations as needed (evenings/weekends).
• Knowledge of propane system components, installation methods, and leak detection techniques is a plus
• Previous propane industry experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Tank Delivery and Placement: Transport propane tanks to customer sites and position them carefully.
• Excavation and Trenching: Dig trenches for underground propane lines per code.
• Piping Installation: Cut, measure, and install propane lines to tanks/appliances.
• Leak Detection and Testing: Inspect connections and perform pressure tests.
• Customer Interaction: Explain installation details and address questions.
• Documentation: Complete installation reports and compliance checklists on tablet.
• Customer Service Skills: Communicate clearly with customers
