Job summary

Goodwill SWPA is seeking a Project SEARCH Skills Trainer to provide vocational training for student interns in the Project Life programming at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. The role involves learning multiple entry-level job skills within the Goodwill Donated Goods Retail network and collaborating with community partners.

The position is regular, full-time and non-exempt with a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching or related field AND 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting learning for teens and young adults with disabilities.
  • Requires valid driver’s license, active insurance, and reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Background checks including National Criminal Background check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints and PATCH are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training on proper work techniques and socialization skills through worksite tasks and task analysis.
  • Implement necessary educational, behavioral, and developmental supports, including assistive technology.
  • Build natural supports within the work environment; identify and implement job modifications.
  • Instruct and assess student learning of job skills in the work environment at a ratio of no more than 1:5.
  • Communicate individual progress and provide feedback to the team in writing and verbally.
  • Provide coverage for other Transition Services Team members as assigned.
