Position Overview

A leading energy company is seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to join its engineering and project controls organization in Kentucky.

The Project Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing schedules across a diverse portfolio of engineering and capital projects. This position will work closely with engineers, project managers, project controls professionals, and external engineering firms to ensure project schedules accurately reflect execution plans, milestones are achieved, and potential delays are identified and addressed early.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on scheduler who can take ownership of project schedules, communicate effectively with technical teams, and proactively drive projects toward successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, update, and monitor project schedules across multiple active projects.
• Manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Support the development and maintenance of the overall project portfolio master schedule.
• Track project progress, milestones, critical activities, and key deliverables.
• Identify schedule delays, risks, constraints, and potential impacts to project execution.
• Work directly with engineers, project managers, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and other project stakeholders to obtain accurate schedule updates.
• Ensure project teams remain accountable to established milestones and commitments.
• Proactively communicate schedule concerns and recommend actions to mitigate delays.
• Partner with engineering and project teams to ensure schedules accurately represent current project execution plans.
• Assist project teams in developing recovery plans when projects fall behind schedule.
• Support project controls activities throughout the project lifecycle, from engineering and design through execution and closeout.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and reliable scheduling data for project teams and management.
• Participate in schedule reviews, progress meetings, and project status discussions.
• Assist with maintaining consistency and alignment between individual project schedules and the overall portfolio master schedule.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project scheduling experience required; 10+ years preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6 is required.
• Experience managing schedules across multiple projects or a project portfolio.
• Experience supporting engineering, EPC, industrial, energy, manufacturing, or other capital project environments.
• Experience working with engineering firms, EPC contractors, or external project partners.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling principles, critical path, milestones, dependencies, and project controls.
• Ability to identify schedule issues and communicate potential impacts to project stakeholders.
• Comfortable holding project teams and external partners accountable to schedule commitments.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple schedules and competing priorities.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is more than a scheduler who simply updates dates in P6. This person should be able to own the schedule, understand what is driving the project, identify potential problems, and communicate effectively with the people responsible for execution.

The successful candidate will be a proactive go-getter who is comfortable taking initiative, asking questions, challenging schedule assumptions when appropriate, and helping project teams get back on track when milestones are at risk.

Strong interpersonal skills are important, as this individual will work closely with a collaborative engineering organization and a variety of project stakeholders.

The engineering organization supports a diverse portfolio of capital and engineering projects ranging from approximately $100K to $100M.

The project controls environment utilizes Primavera P6 and IPS to manage project schedules, portfolio information, and project controls processes.

Projects above approximately $25M may transition into a dedicated Large Project Group, while this position will primarily support projects within the broader engineering and project controls organization.

• Location: Kentucky
• 100% onsite position
• Schedule options include:
• 4/1 schedule: Monday–Thursday onsite with Friday remote
• No per diem available
• Candidates within reasonable commuting distance of the project location are preferred.
