Job summary

CFD Research in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Project Scheduler to join our PMO. The role focuses on ensuring schedule coverage, integrating scope, and coordinating timelines with engineering, procurement, and program management.

This onsite position requires a steady eye for detail and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to keep projects on track. The ideal candidate will have a STEM degree, 3–5 years of scheduling experience, proficiency with Microsoft Project, and a DoD Secret

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field required.
• 3–5 years scheduling/controls experience required.
• Experience with scheduling software (Microsoft Project) required.
• Ability to develop WBS and establish logic relationships.
• Experience tracking milestones and critical path activities.
• DoD Secret Security Clearance required or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Ensure schedule has complete scope coverage and identify scope growth.
• Validate schedule quality using industry benchmarks and historical durations.
• Coordinate with project managers and technical leads to create, update, and analyze schedules.
• Communicate schedule status to stakeholders via meetings and reports.

CFD Research is looking to hire a talented Project Scheduler to join our growing PMO team at our Huntsville, AL HQ.

Responsibilities

• Ensure schedule has complete scope coverage, identify potential scope growth, and ensure allowances and contingencies are appropriately used
• Use industry benchmarks and internal historical durations to validate the quality of the overall schedule
• Consult with project managers and technical experts to create, update and analyze schedules; recommend workarounds and schedule improvement ideas to regain schedule slippage
• Coordinating project timelines with internal departments
• Evaluating performance against schedule and prepare project progress reports
• Communicate schedule status on a regular basis via formal and informal meetings and reports
• Work closely with key stakeholders including engineering, procurement, and program management to properly sequence the work, assess durations, and enhance the overall quality and accuracy of the plan
• Use resource loading to coordinate the project's earned value system with schedule updates

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience supporting project scheduling, project controls, planning, program management, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or a related discipline.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
• Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define activities, establish logic relationships, and maintain schedule baselines.
• Experience tracking schedule performance, milestones, critical path activities, and project status.
• Understanding of Critical Path Analysis, Free Float/Slack, and Total Float/Slack
• Experience preparing schedule status reports, critical path analyses, and executive-level presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze schedule data and identify risks, delays, resource constraints, and recovery opportunities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications

• Current Active Secret Clearance Preferred)
• Experience supporting government, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, construction, or technology programs.
• Experience with Rolling Wave Methodology of Schedule Development
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
• Familiarity with DCMA 14-Point Assessment and PMI scheduling standards.
• PMI-SP, PMP, or other project management certifications
• Experience using SSI Tools
• Experience with Resource Loading

This role is based in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
