Job summary

CFD Research is seeking a Project Scheduler to join our Huntsville HQ onsite. You will develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules, coordinate with engineering, procurement, and program management, and ensure accurate earned value integration.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM, 3–5 years of scheduling experience, proficiency with Microsoft Project, and ability to create WBS and logic relationships. DoD clearance preferred; active clearance a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting project scheduling, controls, planning, or related discipline.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and updating schedules using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
• Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define activities, establish logic relationships, and maintain schedule baselines.
• Experience tracking schedule performance, milestones, and critical path activities, and project status.
• Understanding of Critical Path Analysis, Free Float/Slack, and Total Float/Slack.
• Experience preparing schedule status reports and executive-level presentations for stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze schedule data and identify risks, delays, resource constraints, and recovery opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure schedule has complete scope coverage, identify potential scope growth, and ensure allowances and contingencies are used.
• Use industry benchmarks and internal historical durations to validate the quality of the overall schedule.
• Consult with project managers and technical experts to create, update and analyze schedules; recommend workarounds and schedule improvement ideas to regain schedule slippage.
• Coordinating project timelines with internal departments.
• Evaluating performance against schedule and prepare project progress reports.
• Communicate schedule status on a regular basis via formal and informal meetings and reports.
• Work closely with key stakeholders including engineering, procurement, and program management to properly sequence the work, assess durations, and enhance the overall quality and accuracy of the plan.
• Use resource loading to coordinate the project's earned value system with schedule updates.
