Job summary

CFD Research is seeking a Project Scheduler to join our Huntsville HQ onsite. You will develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules, coordinate with engineering, procurement, and program management, and ensure accurate earned value integration.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM, 3–5 years of scheduling experience, proficiency with Microsoft Project, and ability to create WBS and logic relationships. DoD clearance preferred; active clearance a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting project scheduling, controls, planning, or related discipline.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and updating schedules using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define activities, establish logic relationships, and maintain schedule baselines.
  • Experience tracking schedule performance, milestones, and critical path activities, and project status.
  • Understanding of Critical Path Analysis, Free Float/Slack, and Total Float/Slack.
  • Experience preparing schedule status reports and executive-level presentations for stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze schedule data and identify risks, delays, resource constraints, and recovery opportunities.

  • Work closely with key stakeholders including engineering, procurement, and program management to properly sequence the work, assess durations, and enhance the overall quality and accuracy of the plan.
  • Use resource loading to coordinate the project's earned value system with schedule updates.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting project scheduling, project controls, planning, program management, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or a related discipline.

  • Experience developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define activities, establish logic relationships, and maintain schedule baselines.

  • Experience tracking schedule performance, milestones, critical path activities, and project status.

  • Understanding of Critical Path Analysis, Free Float/Slack, and Total Float/Slack

  • Experience preparing schedule status reports, critical path analyses, and executive-level presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze schedule data and identify risks, delays, resource constraints, and recovery opportunities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


Desired Qualifications


  • Current Active Secret Clearance Preferred)

  • Experience supporting government, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, construction, or technology programs.

  • Experience with Rolling Wave Methodology of Schedule Development

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Familiarity with DCMA 14-Point Assessment and PMI scheduling standards.

  • PMI-SP, PMP, or other project management certifications

  • Experience using SSI Tools

  • Experience with Resource Loading


Location

This role is based in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
