Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation in Durham, NC seeks a Senior Safety Leader to direct the project accident prevention program, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and local safety requirements.

You will mentor safety staff, deliver training, lead toolbox talks and orientations with field crews and subcontractors, participate in inspections, investigate incidents, and collaborate with project leadership to integrate safety into planning and execution.

Qualifications

• 10 years of safety leadership experience.
• 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
• CIH, CSP preferred

Responsibilities

• Leads, directs, and manages the project accident prevention program, ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations and local safety requirements.
• Enforces Lane's safety program, policies, and procedures; implements immediate corrective actions where required.
• Mentors, coaches, and evaluates safety employees, providing feedback and performance assessments.
• Develops and delivers training programs.
• Facilitates orientations, toolbox talks, and regular safety meetings with field crews, subcontractors, and professional staff.
• Participates in regulatory inspections.
• Investigates near misses, injuries, and incidents; and leads root cause analysis to ensure corrective measures prevent recurrence.
• Monitors incident trends and proactively implements measures to reduce risks and improve safety performance.
• Communicates with the corporate claims department to ensure accurate documentation of asset losses and worker' compensation claims.
• Collaborates with project leadership to integrate safety into planning, scheduling, and execution of work activities.
