Your Next Opportunity

The Field Safety Specialist exhibits advanced competencies and is responsible for administering the job site safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role reports to a Safety Manager or Senior Safety Manager and requires advanced safety knowledge to support technical safety programs and procedures for project requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Lead regular walk-through inspections of construction areas, spending up to 80% of your time in the field conducting audits and interacting with crews. Daily communication with project management and field leadership is essential.
  • Identify, document, and recommend solutions for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; follow up to ensure corrections are made.
  • Investigate injuries and incident events.
  • Contribute to pre-task planning and safety meetings on the job site.
  • Review the three-week lookahead with field leadership to identify training opportunities and high-risk work.
  • Ensure procedures are followed for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and first-time energization at the project site.
  • Review Step-by-Step procedures and Methods of Procedures (MOPS).
  • Understand project one-line diagrams.
  • Understand NFPA 70E guidelines, including approach distances, PPE requirements, and battery systems.
  • Compile and assess safety data, photographs, and reports in accordance with regulations and procedures related to accidents.
  • Issue entry permits, such as confined space permits, as required.
  • Assist in emergency rescues as needed and maintain fire protection equipment and systems.
  • Conduct awareness-level training and new hire orientations.
  • This description covers the general scope of the position; additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the role within the business unit.
Qualifications for Success
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Proficient with electronic devices for safety audits and communication.
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a team player.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of staff, vendors, and clients.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
  • STS-C or CHST Certification.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • At least 4 years of safety construction experience.
Travel & Working Conditions
  • Up to 100% travel.
  • Primarily indoor work with environmental variations; noise levels range from low to loud on job sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
