Job summary

AVANTech LLC is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to lead quality management on assigned projects, interfacing with Project Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure customer requirements are met and the AVANTech Quality Assurance Program is followed.

You will review contracts, support supplier and customer audits, and drive continuous improvement across engineering, procurement, receiving, testing, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, project engineering or project management.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Quality representative assigned to designated projects.
  • Act as the primary interface between Project Management and the Quality organization.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer contracts, specifications, codes, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Assist Project Managers in interpreting customer quality requirements.
  • Help Project Managers navigate AVANTech quality procedures, processes, and program requirements.
  • Coordinate quality-related communication with customers.
  • Participate in customer audits and source surveillance activities.
  • Coordinate Quality Control activities throughout fabrication.

Who You Are

The Project Quality Engineer (PQE) serves as the primary quality interface assigned to one or more projects, supporting the successful execution of customer requirements while ensuring compliance with the AVANTech Quality Assurance Program.

The PQE works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Receiving, Testing, and Document Management to identify quality requirements, evaluate project risks, facilitate communication, and help navigate the AVANTech Quality Management System throughout the project lifecycle.

This position is intended to be proactive rather than reactive by identifying potential quality issues early, facilitating resolution of technical and quality concerns, and helping project teams successfully execute complex customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as theQuality representative assigned to designated projects.
  • Act as the primary interfacebetween Project Management and the Quality organization.
  • Developa thorough understanding of customer contracts, specifications, codes,standards, and quality requirements.
  • Assist Project Managers ininterpreting customer quality requirements and incorporating them intoproject execution.
  • Help Project Managersunderstand and navigate AVANTech quality procedures, processes, andprogram requirements.
  • Participate in projectkickoff meetings and planning activities.
  • Support development ofproject quality plans and quality strategies.
  • Identify quality risksthroughout the project lifecycle and work with the project team to developmitigation strategies.
  • Maintain visibility ofquality-related project risks and communicate emerging issues to projectleadership.
  • Coordinate quality-relatedcommunication with customers.
  • Participate in customermeetings involving quality matters.
  • Support resolution ofcustomer comments, technical questions, and quality concerns.
  • Assist with customer auditsand source surveillance activities.
  • Coordinate quality supportfor project meetings and milestone reviews.
  • Support preparation forcustomer inspections and hold points.
Project Support Responsibilities
  • Reviewcontracts and purchase orders for quality requirements.
  • Verify quality requirementshave been properly flowed down to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist Engineering withinterpretation of customer quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with Procurementregarding supplier quality requirements.
  • Work with ReceivingInspection regarding acceptance requirements.
  • Coordinate Quality Controlactivities throughout fabrication.
  • Support testing activitiesand ensure quality requirements are satisfied.
  • Assist Document Management inidentifying required quality records.
  • Support preparation andreview of Quality Verification Data Requirements (QVDRs).
  • Monitor project qualitymetrics.
  • Participate in project riskreviews.
  • Assist with management ofproject nonconformances.
  • Support corrective action development and implementation.
Quality Program Responsibilities
  • Supportimplementation of the AVANTech Quality Assurance Program.
  • Ensure project activitiescomply with NQA-1 and applicable customer requirements.
  • Assist in development andimprovement of quality procedures.
  • Participate in internalaudits.
  • Support supplier evaluationsand audits.
  • Assist with correctiveactions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support lessons learnedactivities.
  • Help improve consistencyacross projects.
  • Promote a proactive qualityculture throughout the organization.
Customer Interface

The Project Quality Engineer is expected to establish professional working relationships with customers by:

  • Understanding customerexpectations.
  • Responding to qualityquestions in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating responsesbetween Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Supporting customer audits.
  • Participating in technicaldiscussions involving quality requirements.
  • Helping resolve customerconcerns before they become project issues.
  • Maintaining open communication throughout project execution.
Risk Management Responsibilities

The Project Quality Engineer supports project success by:

  • Identifying quality risksduring proposal review and project kickoff.
  • Monitoring changing customerrequirements.
  • Evaluating impacts ofspecification changes.
  • Identifying quality issuesthat may affect cost or schedule.
  • Escalating significant risksto project leadership.
  • Supporting project riskregisters.
  • Assisting Project Managers with quality-related mitigation plans.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimumfive years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance,project engineering, or project management.
  • Strong understanding ofmanufacturing processes.

  • Ability to read and interpretengineering drawings and specifications.

  • Bachelor's degree inEngineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.
