Your Role:
The LS Global EHS team is comprised of regional EHS leaders dedicated to the business-level implementation of corporate EHS governance programs. As part of this extended team, you will support the Life Science Process Safety Center of Excellence by serving as the primary process safety specialist for major CapEx projects and developing process safety program implementation for all project processes.
As the Project Process Safety Leader (Life Science Process Safety Center of Excellence), you will be responsible for:
Developing internal business-level guidance and training programs for the following items based on corporate standards:
Process safety implementation in the project process
Process safety implementation in the technology transfer process (inter-site transfer with and without scale-up)
Process safety implementation for new product development
PHAs in the project process
Serving as the process safety subject matter expert and individual contributor.
Serving as the process safety expert on strategic and major capital projects within the Life Science Business, working with project managers to complete process safety deliverables as outlined in corporate standards.
Mentoring regional process safety experts and site EHS who are serving as process safety representatives on smaller CapEx projects.
Collaborating with the project management office to incorporate process safety deliverables into existing project processes.
Developing tools and templates to standardize process safety deliverable expectations throughout the Life Science business.
Onboarding third-party consultants to fulfill process safety project needs.

Who You Are:
We are seeking a leader with experience and vision for incorporating process safety deliverables into project execution processes. An ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and demonstrated leadership in applying process safety principles to project processes through past career roles. The candidate should be stakeholder and safety-focused, with the capability to collaborate with project teams owning process safety elements, promote best practices, and develop process safety implementation programs for all levels of project execution within the Life Science business.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in engineering or related field or no degree with 8+ years of relevant work experience.
5+ years of experience with responsibility for implementing process safety deliverables within CapEx project execution with increasing complexity and investment.
Career experience working in chemical manufacturing.
Experience facilitating PHAs using HAZOP methodology (preference for experience using PHAWorks).
Experience conducting LOPAs using industry standards.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support site MI programs as needed. (Anticipated <15% annually)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with global process safety regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso III, COMAH, AQ/T 2024-2022).
Experience identifying, designing, and/or sourcing IPL (independent protection layers) in common systems including but not limited to:
Fire protection
Explosion/overpressure protection
Toxic/flammable chemical management
Experience managing process safety programs, with a preference for those with experience building and implementing programs.
Proven track record of working in large matrix organizational environments with various stakeholders.
Ability to build professional relationships with various levels of leadership and site management through digital and in-person platforms.
Strong knowledge of formal project management processes and tools, with the ability to utilize these tools to initiate, manage, and close complex projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and meeting management skills.
Experience in one or more of the following chemical manufacturing disciplines: solvents, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biologics.
Applicable certifications (PMP).
Physical requirements:
Ability to don standard plant PPE, including but not limited to head, eye, hand, body, and foot protection for an 8-hour shift
Ability to enter hazardous areas (possible presence of flammables or combustible dust) with appropriate PPE
Pay Range for this position:$107,100 – $160,700
