Job summary

Koch Finishing Systems in Caledonia, MI is hiring a Project Planner to drive projects from release through production and shipment. You will review drawings, release BOMs, procure steel, and manage production orders to keep projects on schedule.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in a related field and experience in metal fabrication planning, with proficiency in ERP systems and Excel. This role offers on-site work at our Caledonia facility and room to grow with the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
• Experience in production planning or steel fabrication release within metal fabrication/industrial equipment environments preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and identify errors or missing information.
• Proficiency in Acumatica or similar ERP systems, Procore, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and vendor-management skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Review project and sales order drawings for accuracy and completeness, resolving questions with engineering.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, material lists, part numbers, and descriptions for assemblies and fabricated components.
• Optimize steel requirements, issue RFQs to suppliers, and compare quotes.
• Create and manage production orders, including work centers, operations, labor times, and material assignments.
• Coordinate materials, inventory transfers, and scrap/drops tracking to support production and procurement.
• Maintain the Release Tracker and Shipping Schedule, coordinating release of completed work to the shop.
• Build relationships with new and alternative suppliers/vendors for raw materials and manufacturing processes.

About the Role

Koch Finishing Systems is hiring a Project Planner to drive projects and sales orders from release through production and shipment at our Caledonia, MI facility. You'll review drawings, release bills of material, optimize and procure steel, build and manage production orders, and develop steel fabrication estimates - all while coordinating materials, inventory, and shipping through to project close. What You'll Do

• Review project and sales order drawings for accuracy and completeness, and resolve questions or discrepancies with engineering.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, material lists, part numbers, and part descriptions for assemblies, weldments, and fabricated components.
• Optimize linear steel requirements, issue RFQs to steel suppliers, and review and compare supplier quotes.
• Create and manage production orders, including work centers, operations, labor times, and material assignments.
• Coordinate materials, inventory transfers, and scrap/drops tracking to support production and procurement.
• Maintain the Release Tracker and Shipping Schedule, and coordinate the release of completed work to the shop.
• Build relationships with new and alternative suppliers/vendors for raw materials and manufacturing processes.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in production planning, steel fabrication release, or estimating within a metal fabrication or industrial equipment environment strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and identify errors or missing information.
