DCL in Texas is seeking a Production Planner to develop and execute production plans, manage procurement, and coordinate with purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics to meet customer demand.

Responsibilities include scheduling, monitoring progress, adjusting plans, maintaining data in Epicor ERP, and optimizing resources. Candidates should have manufacturing planning experience and strong Excel/ERP skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in supply chain or related field preferred.
  • Experience in production planning or scheduling.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent Excel and planning tools skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on sales orders, inventory levels, lead times, and capacity.
  • Monitor production progress, identifying delays or bottlenecks and taking corrective actions.
  • Review and release jobs daily based on material availability and master schedule priorities.
  • Update traveler dates to align with schedule changes and due dates.
  • Revise schedules based on shifting priorities and operational demands.
  • Control and implement revisions related to WIP and future orders.
  • Collaborate with Production to allocate labor, materials, and equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain planning data within ERP/MRP systems (Epicor).
  • Develop and maintain Methods of Manufacturing (MoM) to ensure accurate job costing and process alignment.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Job description

The Production Planner / is responsible for developing and executing production plans while also managing procurement activities to support efficient and timely manufacturing operations. This role coordinates workflows, manages resources, and monitors production progress to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization.

In addition, the role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely purchasing of components aligned with production schedules. This position works closely with purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams to align production schedules with material availability, labor capacity, and customer demand.

Responsibilities:
Production Planning Duties:
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on sales orders, inventory levels, lead times, and capacity.
  • Monitor production progress, proactively identifying potential delays or bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review and release jobs daily based on material availability and master schedule priorities.
  • Update traveler dates to align with schedule changes and sales order due dates.
  • Revise schedules based on shifting priorities and operational demands.
  • Control and implement revisions related to Work in Progress (WIP) and future orders.
  • Collaborate with Production to allocate labor, materials, and equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within Epicor and other ERP/MRP systems.
  • Develop and maintain Methods of Manufacturing (MoM) to ensure accurate job costing and process alignment.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Purchasing Duties:
  • Issue and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Monitor supplier performance and follow up on late or expedited orders to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on schedule changes, including expedites, pushouts, and order adjustments.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels by balancing material availability with carrying costs.
  • Validate and maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and lead-time data in ERP systems.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required to support business operations.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
  • Subject matter expert in applicable ERP/MRP modules.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other planning tools.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate across departments.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment is a plu
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, and use computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a shop/production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and various temperatures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
