Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology seeks a Project Officer to lead the direction and site management of large, complex fieldwork projects in Andover. You will ensure delivery to time, budget, and quality while maintaining safety standards and high-quality recording.

Essentially, you will write field reports and supervise staff, with a driving licence and willingness to travel for away projects. The role includes opportunities for publication and professional development within CA.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising large fieldwork projects (excavations and evaluations).
• Ability to write clear fieldwork reports, stratigraphic accounts and fieldwork summaries.
• Strong communication and staff development skills.
• Full manual driving licence; ability and willingness to drive company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead fieldwork delivery to time, budget, quality and health and safety requirements.
• Line-manage staff; conduct performance reviews and coaching.
• Ensure quality of site records and archives; oversee publication of results.
• Author field reports, accounts and summaries efficiently and accurately.
• Monitor project progress and liaise with clients, officers and contractors.
• Manage administrative records and travel/vehicle logistics.
